Shopmobility Northern Ireland is pleased to announce that the Shopmobility support service for residents in Bangor is being continued and expanded.

The scheme will enable people with mobility problems to hire powered scooters and manual wheelchairs to get around Bangor Town Centre AND also Bloomfield Shopping Centre. This equipment will be available FREE of charge for daily use.

Ann Collins MBE Chair of Shopmobility Northern Ireland says,

“Department of Regional Development, Shopmobility NI, Bloomfield Shopping Centre and Translink have worked to ensure Shopmobility services are now available from two locations in Bangor. The Shopmobility Mobile Unit is based at Bangor Translink Bus and Rail Centre, front entrance. The Mobile Unit is open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 4pm and the public are welcome to come along and use the mobility scooters and wheelchairs to get around the Town Centre. Shopmobility equipment is now also available again from Bloomfield Shopping Centre during trading hours.”

Jacinta Magee from the umbrella organisation representing Shopmobility schemes across the region said: “Shopmobility NI is delighted that Bangor shoppers who have mobility problems have access to our fleet of mobility scooters and wheelchairs for daily use at no cost to themselves. Please bring your Photo ID and address details with you and speak to our staff/ volunteers at Shopmobility Mobile Unit at Bangor Translink Centre or the Security Staff at Bloomfield Shopping Centre and we will issue you with the equipment you need.”
